Beginnings: Community

Welcome. This is the beginning of something exciting and new for First Christian Church in Houston, Texas. Through FCC's process of discernment, we have identified a need for further development of our small group ministry. This development comes from our vision of an Acts 2 church. So you may be asking yourself, "What does it mean to be an Acts 2 Church?"

We find in the book of Acts Chapter 2 verses 42- 47 the following:

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Everyday they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

Does that sound like the type of community in which you would like to be a part?

One thing that I see in this passage are people who share their lives together. They are eating, praying, collaborating, supporting, scarificing and building deeper and authentic relationships with each other. They are connecting!

This is our vision for First Christian Church.

Our hope is, as we move closer in meaningful relationship with each other, we will spur each other on to vital relationship with Jesus Christ. The goal of this blog will be to chronicle FCC's steps as we move closer to an Acts 2 Vision. I look forward to sharing with you in our journey.
